Scanlily is optimized for use with Scanlily QR codes. These can be purchased in label packets on Scanlily's website and online retailers such as Amazon or WalmartDemo QRs are also available on the website for trying out the system.

Many versions of the QR labels are available, including weatherproof, small, large, different shapes those with custom logos.  Scanlily's website store has the most comprehensive list of available QR labels.>

If you have a Business account, you can also generate Scanlily QRs in the system from the User website via the Settings->Labels feature and print them yourself in multiple formats. Such accounts can also substitute proprietary (non-Scanlily) QR codes or barcodes. Using proprietary QRs or barcodes provides flexibility but has the drawback of a less smooth workflow than when using Scanlily’s QR codes. This is partly because Scanlily’s QR codes are URLs designed to allow scanning without the app.

Here are different scenarios for adding and scanning QR codes and barcodes:

Adding Items

a. Create a new item via a Scanlily QR

b. Add a Scanlily QR to an existing item

c. Add an item and then generate a Scanlily QR

d. Add an item and then type in your own proprietary ID or barcode for it

e. Add an item and then scan in your own proprietary barcode

The steps are:
1. Affix a new Scanlily QR to your item

2. Scan it

3. AI will recognize and draft the item details.

3. You can update name and other information about the item

b. Add a Scanlily QR to an existing item

The steps are:

1. Use the Camera+ image to add an item without the Scanlily QR code

2. Or find your pre-existing item in Scanlily

3. Affix a new Scanlily QR to your item
4. Click on the scanner symbol to the right of the ID field

5. Scan the Scanlily QR to add it to the ID field

The QR will then be assigned to the item.

c. Add an item and then generate a Scanlily QR

If you don’t have the time to purchase Scanlily QRs from the Scanliyl Website,  Amazon or Walmart, or you’d just like to print your own, it’s easy to do so with a Business account!

1. On the app, select Menu->Manual Add

2. Enter the name and information about the item. The ID will appear undefined.

3. Click on the + symbol to the right of the ID. The system will generate a Scanlily QR and insert it into the ID field.

Businesses that use barcode labels can follow this approach. A paying account is needed for this approach.

The steps are:
1. Select Menu->Manual Add

2. Enter the name and information about the item. The ID will appear undefined.

3. Click on the word Undefined. This opens the field for direct data entry:

4. Enter the item’s ID and then click the blue checkmark to confirm

e. Add an item and then scan in your proprietary barcode

Adding an item by scanning a barcode is faster than typing. A Business account is needed for this approach. Furthermore, you can attach a barcode scanner via Bluetooth.

The steps are:
1. Select Menu->Manual Add

2. Enter the name and information about the item. The ID will appear undefined.

3. Click on the QR symbol to the right of the ID field to open the scanner.

f. Find an item by scanning its Scanlily QR label

To pull up an item with a Scanlily QR label on it, scan it with or without the app. The Item Page will pull up in either case.

g. Find an item by scanning your proprietary barcode

If you added a proprietary barcode or QR ID, you can also scan it to bring up the Item. However, because duplicates are allowed, you first have to pick from a list of duplicate item names with the same ID.
